Vector Photo Realistic Freestyle Watch

I'll just start off by saying, this photo realism project was a LONG journey. My goals for this project was to create a photo realistic vector graphic of a Freestyle watch.

I used two Freestyle reference photos, one digital and one analog. I took details from each reference photo which included color schemes, shapes, and watch face details such as the analog style.

At the beginning of this project, I sketched out different alterations of specific details on the Freestyle watches such as the body of the face of the watch, the knob, the straps, etc.

I knew there would be several approaches to start this project out. To make it less stressful and easier for me to focus on the details later, I started off by creating the basic shapes that I saw from the reference photos. I created the shape of the watch face plus all the shapes within the watch face, as well as the straps.
After I had the basic shapes I saw on the surface from the reference photos, I began to work on some of the details I saw on the surface from the reference photos. And, when I say the surface, I mean the details and shapes I saw without REALLY paying attention to little details.
I then began to REALLY pay attention to shadows, highlights and the placement of those shadows and highlights. I also began working on the texture of the band, I opted to use a photo of velcro and applied that to the band to give it texture.

I continued to work on the details until I had exactly what I saw on the reference photos, on my vector photo realistic watch.

This is my final product. After many many hours and late nights, I finally finished at a place where I was happy with it.
