"One planet City challenge" (OPCC) is a global event launched by WWF in Sweden in 2011. The event was originally called "Earth Hour City challenge" and renamed "one Earth City challenge" in 2017. It aims to provide sustainable solutions for urban residents in the fields of construction, transportation and energy, and call on cities to carry out actions to cope with climate change and low-carbon transformation.
Since 2011, more than 400 cities from five continents have participated in the "one Earth City challenge", and 55 national and four global leading cities have been selected, namely Vancouver, Cape Town, Seoul and Paris. There are different themes in the annual awards, from "low carbon transportation and travel" in 2017-2018 to "low carbon buildings and renewable energy" in 2019-2020. In 2015, Shenzhen, as the first city from China, joined the "one Earth City challenge" and was rated as the national leader city.
