Tape Art Installation for Design Week

Site-specific Installation for Vienna Design Week

“Our ambition was to make a positive and compelling space, which would allow visitors to experience the Kapitza world of color and pattern.”
For this site-specific project, Kapitza cleverly repurposes urban adhesive tape to create a dazzling mural of vertical and horizontal interactions and arrangements, all meticulously tailored to the exact dimensions of the 115 sq. metre space.
The interior has been adorned throughout with 5, 10, and 20cm wide paper tape of various colours to create a dazzling mural of vertical and horizontal interactions and arrangements. Using only environmentally friendly paper-based tapes, it took a team of 8 specialist 3 days to install.
Apart from the floor- and wall art the project consists of two custom designed and handmade plywood benches.

“It was important to us that people would not just drift through, but use the space and immerse themselves in our world. That’s why it was crucial for us to have seating and why we designed two benches especially tailored to the space.”
Designer Sisters Nicole Kapitza and Petra Kapitza
“We were amazed how visitors used our space, how people were excited to step into our colour and pattern world, started posing for photos, chatting, sitting down and having a drink.”
