Exhibition concept & design for Landkreis Fürth
In 2018, the "Aktion Saubere Landschaft" an annual event where volunteers collect waste in the district of Fürth, took place for the 50th time. This anniversary was the perfect occasion to design an exhibition that showcases the issue of waste.
How can waste be minimized? How is waste recycled? How can we create useful or decorative things out of waste?
Besides a lot of facts and figures, creative upcycling projects from citizens, as well as interactive elements were displayed, to make the exhibition interesting for people of all ages.
Many exhibitions generate a lot of waste after they stop touring, that's why considering a sustainable exhibition design was very important for me. I wanted the material to be easy to transport and recyclable. That's why I chose to use cardboard boxes.
The exhibition 'Wert.Stoff' was first shown in the foyer of the Landratsamt Fürth. Afterwards the exhibition toured through town halls and schools in the district of Fürth. The last stop of the exhibition was a Kindergarden which kept the cardboard boxes and used them for arts and crafts.
For the exhibition the cardboard boxes were piled up. For town hall and school foyers with less space, some of the unprinted boxes were left out, depending on how much space we could work with.
