Appalachian State University has loft properties in both New York City and Washington DC to provide students with extraordinary, extra-curricular experiences. Looking for a cohesive design to unify the two locations, the school enlisted the assistance of our Type II class to invent a brand new identity. This is my final design and the process work that led up to it. 2013.
This is the final design that I submitted, with variations on the letterspacing. With this design I wanted to use only type to accomplish a unique logo for each location while keeping the design cohesive. After researching each city, I developed these two abstracted type logos to represent each of their distinct cultures by taking inspiration from their architecture and public signage.
