The first character we meet. Oscar helps the chosen undead to get out of his cell in the Undead Asylum. Later he is smashed by something off the top floor and we find him badly injured in a room. During his last breath he gives us his most important thing, the estus flask.

Siegmeyer is a jolly knight of Catarina, and an adventurer. He is first found in front of the giant gates of Sen's fortress. He later meets us in Anor Londo and then in Firelink shrine. When we rescue his daughter, we come to know that his wife is dead and his daughter wants to deliver this message to him. 

At last we find his daughter and his dead body in Ash lake. She had to kill him because the grief of his wife's death turned him hollow and his daughter had to kill him.

Eileen the hunter, came to Yarnham as she was called by the Healing Church to kill the beast hunters who became mad in bloodlust and lost their sanity. The night she reaches the city, is the most dreaded one as almost everyone has turned into fierce beasts. She fails to kill the remaining hunter who turned mad, her companion the Crow of Cainhurst. 

The Crow of Cainhurst attempts to kill her and we find her badly injured, later found nowhere. Perhaps, she wakes up from the dreadful dream.

One of the legendary four Knights of lord Gwyn. Artorias was a great knight with a will like unbendable steel. He was given the task to stop the spread of the abyss in the land of Oolacile. He finds the demon who spreads the abyss, called Manus, believed to be the father of humanity who was awakened by humans of the city and tortured him till he went berserk and became corrupted by the abyss. 

Artorias was defeated by Manus and he was left with a broken arm and later was himself engulfed in the abyss.

Ages later, after the death of legendary Artorias, a legion was found by the group of humans who took the role of enemies of the abyss, they roamed everywhere and destroyed everything which came in contact with the abyss. But while doing their job some of them were themselves engulfed by the abyss and fought each other. As they were undead, they could not die and fought each other for eternity.

The first hunter assigned by the Healing Church, he came across a method to ascend into Great Ones, the Gods. He found the umbilical chord which can be used in ascension. But he was tricked by a great one and made a deal in which he would kill all the hunters who completes their job of killing the beasts. He himself was struck in the dream and helped others to leave it by killing them in the dream.   

Soul of Cinder, an amalgamation of all the Lords who rose as a final defense to save the first flame from extinguishing and save the Age of Fire. The main character, the Unkindled one, ends his journey in the Kiln of the first flame and kills Soul of Cinder and start the Age of Man.
