Bayırdamı Village, which was founded as a result of the villagers who left the place where they lived as a result of an epidemic (pyrexia, acc. to verbal studies) about 100 years ago, migrated to this area that discovered by a shepherd, is 24 km away from Söke town center of Aydın province in Turkey. It takes its name "Bayırdamı" from its resemblance to a terrace built on hills.
According to verbal studies in the area, the building masters come from the Tekeler village in the vicinity and all the nearby villages in the region show similar architectural features.
Today, most of the villagers have migrated to the town of Bağarası, 15 km away from Bayırdam due to the past water shortage and drought.
The aim of this project is to document the vernacular heritage that has been abandoned. For this purpose, the house number 5 was surveyed and period, material and deterioration analyzes were performed. You can find some of the works done below.
