FOUND TYPE POSTER

Typographic inspiration can be found anywhere, such as candy wrappers, store signs, street names, parking tickets, etc. In this exercise, I explored and studied the different typefaces found in Providence. I've decided to focus on fruit label stickers because it was intriguing to me to see how each stickers varied in size, color, and shape. In addition, the stickers hold so much information: the fruit's origins, corporate name, logos, barcode, images, symbols, and numbers. Most importantly, I could examine the different typefaces used.

For my posters, I was inspired by map designs. I incorporated grids to give the essence of a map and grocery bags. The scale of the stickers was inspired by the size of the fruit's state/country of origin. Then I arranged the stickers on the poster according to where they would lie on a horizontal map. The location is not accurate but it shows the relationships between the fruits in distance. The used of orange bars was representing packaging motifs as a packaging tape directing the eyes of the readers. Another packaging motif I used in both of the posters is barcode to make the poster look fun and materialistic.
