Bruja Brunch Background Visual

I was asked by Femme Fatale DC to create a moving tribute to female empowerment with the theme of "female magic." I figured tapping into the mythology of various goddess might do the trick. After much research, I settled on centering my piece around the African Orisha (goddess), Oshun. Her personal number is 5, she loves various shades of gold, beauty, and the finer things in life. She encourages women to be their best selves and to never settle. The event took place at the Howard Theatre and the piece was on display on the theatre's main screen as well as the lobby screens.

Below, are mood boards of the ideas I had: the Orisha Yemaya (Orisha of oceans and motherhood), Orisha Oshun (Orisha of beauty, streams and lakes), and Haitian Voudou as well as Louisiana Voodoo and Hoodoo.
