“My father and uncle always strived to become professional boxers. But in their youth, times were different, there were different opportunities, that’s why they couldn’t make their dream come true. So when I was born they decided to make a sportsman of me and to devote themselves to this goal, and I’m very grateful for this as now I’m able to make this dream come true for two of my close relatives.”
I began to train during my 5th grade at school. By that time, our countrymen Muhammadkodir Abdullaev and Abbos Atoev had already asserted themselves in the world boxing ring, by becoming prizewinners and champions of the Olympics. I was looking at them and, as a little boy, I was dreaming about defending the honor of my country in the Olympics one day. I wanted to bring the gold to Uzbekistan! I wanted to meet all the expectations of my close ones and make my dream of becoming the champion come true!”
