Young Lions Design 2013 - Round 1 Costa Rica

The program Taller Empresarios Juveniles Plus by Junior Achievement has the mission to educate and inspire young people to be successful in a global economy.

We believe in the power of inspiration and driven transition conducted by the program. We know the highschool youth has the potential and is the prime material to create something meaningful and lasting that can exponentially and dramatically improve their economic situation resulting in their economical independence from a young age and the social mobility beneficial for the society itself.

We envisioned Origami as the perfect metaphor to portray such transition from something so simple but so inspiring as a white blank piece of paper, into a totally new creation.

In these terms the youth becomes the paper in the metaphor, the program the guidelines necessary to indicate the possible outcome and the sponsors, with the engagement and necessary curiosity, will help fold the pieces together and bring the financial movement needed to promote these young people’s ideas and future.

After an investigation of the Origami process, the visual identity proposed, specifically the logotype is based on the modular base and starting point of every Origami. It is the pillar of the concept and the beginning of creation.

Because we believe this is the perfect culmination of the metaphor. Letting all the people involved (youngsters, educator and sponsors) engage with the graphics and make it part of their philosophy. Go beyond the prime material and seek unthinkable outcomes.

The brand is timeless and in constant evolution as long as the ideal of achieving the unimaginable is kept alive, because it’s the primary step to any given transformation the program might implement and it will come to life when the young entrepreneurs adopt the brand as its own and feel represented by it.
