The Hideout
Project Overview

In general, the vision of the thesis came about during the overlying of observations made by the class during the SWOT analysis. These key issues were summarised into acute shocks and chronic stresses which made it easier to strategically plan the document and come up with the pillars, goals and objectives of the document. The objective selected for this thesis project (shown below) forms part of the independent lifestyle pillar from the Cottonera Strategy Document. The basis of this objective came about after a collection of statistical data, interviews and surveys showed that problems such as domestic violence, child neglect, a high percentage of single mothers and family problems exist in the area.
Hence the implementation of intervention programs, and possibly even treatment, could halt this predicament in the community and introduce a new aspect in the social well being of the area.

The project being envisaged is a space where children can seek refuge from their domestic daily problems. Specifically to aid neglected children by providing a space where they feel protected and secure from the outside world while finding safety and comfort inside the building. Hence the name The Hideout.
