For this school assignment, we were required to create a short promo for any movies or TV shows.
As I am a big fan of the Kingsman franchise, I chose to promote "Kingsman The Secret Service", which was the first Kingsman movie released in theaters.
During my research process, I looked at many references and came up with 4 different types of moodboards to see which look would be the best for me to go for.
The first moodboard was following a sort of elegant/gentlemanly style where things looked stylish and neat.
The second moodboard was following an abstract style where there were elements like smudges and paint blotches.
The third moodboard was following a realistic style where I could crop and animate still images from the movie and layer them with with cool backgrounds.
The fourth and final moodboard was following an illustrative style where vector illustrations of the movie's elements and characters are created.
This was the style that I ended up using as I felt that it would look cool, interesting and unique if it were to be animated.

As shown above, the technique used to create the illustrations was very simple. I used key scenes from the movie as reference and recreated them in Illustrator.
I then separated the layers accordingly and animated them in After Effects.
Finally, additional elements like the beer glass, "one lesson" text and tooth were created and animated in C4D.
Summary
Overall, this was a fun project. However, I learnt that some of the characters' facial features look too simple.
For instance, the scene where the bad guy gets his tooth punched out. I was told that it might be hard to recognize that he was being punched without a bit of facial expression or facial distortion.
Therefore, the lack of expressions and certain details gave the overall video a sort of unpolished look. I will definitely keep this in mind and work more smartly in the future projects after this. Thank you!
