Harbinger Brews | Craft Beer Logo
A client requested a logo design for their craft beer that would soon be commercially available. They didn't have much more than their name, Harbinger, and were quite fond of the idea of having a moth as their symbol.

The initial logo showcased a stylised representation of a Hawk moth, and was deemed final when multiple parties were happy with it.
Unfortunately, due to an abundance of ink used during the screen printing of some t-shirts, and a lack of any strong lines in the symbol, many people misinterpreted what the symbol was. Something that could not be unseen. Perhaps the moth was over simplified.

So it was back to the drawing board. I managed to convince the client on the font, and I was personally stuck on the Hawk moth for inspiration, so I tried different illustration styles, and even different types of moths.
Finally, I settled on the top variation, due to limitations in the size of the logo on a beer label, and previous misinterpretations, I opted to remove any soft lines and emphasized the angles and lines to get the the final version.
Due to various reasons, the project didn't go much further in scope, although there were some great ideas for some of their signature beers. One such brew was called 'The Red Headed Stepchild', and here was a rough concept for that label.
