2013 Picture of the Week - Week 14

If you were told the ceiling of the Lincoln Memorial was ornate, you would probably believe it. The translucent panels laid in the grid formed by the tremendous beams add a wilder randomness than streams and streams of olive branches festooning the temple. Resurrection morning I took this and many other images learning a greater appreciation both for the architecture and the president. His words of reconciliation and unfinished business hold truths that rightly deserve to be etched in stone. I wonder how often the elected denizens at
the far end of the mall come to visit him here and reflect on peace, unity, healing and justice. Probably not often enough.
