THE PEATED WHISKY

This branding project is about creating a special edition of a selected premium scottish whisky. It creates aĀ  ā€˜must haveā€™ version of the product, which is playful and original,Ā and linked up graphic storytelling in the packaging. That's why IĀ focused on the peatĀ to create a limited edition of their productĀ : Ā it is an important ingredient in Laphroaig's whisky as it gives the specific peated - smokey taste of this famous whisky.

Ā Part of that project is toĀ use sustainable materialĀ in a consistent discourse. Ā Each of the three different whiskies represents one kind of peat to show how this ground is not infinite and precious. Indeed, the blond, brown and black peatĀ needĀ a different environnement andĀ  amount of time (thousands of years) to be created and then used for the creation of the whisky.

Bottles and boxes are rectangular to reminds us the form of the peat when it's harvested.
These bold and raw patterns are created with aĀ blockprinting process to remind us the strenght of the peat.
The wooden box represent a view of the ground with the different layers.
That's why the black peat, that needs a longer time to be formed, is at the bottom, because it's deeper in the ground. The blonde peat is more superficiel so it's placed at the top of the shelf.
