Taking inspiration from the Bauhaus art movement, I've experimented with typeface, shape and color. The main elements of the logo are the three basic shapes: the circle, triangle and the square, the primary colors: red, yellow and blue and the Futura Bk typeface. The elements are used to portray the fundamental aspect of individual identity including gender, religion, caste and creed. However, by overlapping and manipulating those elements to create a composition, the individual identities cease to exist, creating a unique blend of culture that represents the community in Mumbai, or in the whole of India.
This particular logo can be broken down into a rectangle, circle or a triangle. No existing typeface is used. The logo is purely created using the basic shapes. The central four circles which form a vesica pisces is the highlight of this logo. The overlapping colours depict the combination of the Colors in Digital Media RGB used for projection in movie theatres. It is an ode to Mumbai, the birthplace of Bollywood. Usage of line and shape for structure, and colour for aesthetics of the logo, indirectly portrays the importance of both technicians and creative minds in the Bollywood industry.
Inspired from the poem, "Father returning Home" by Dilip Chitre, this logo aims to portray the crowded local trains of Mumbai. Each of the letter depicts a human being holding the overhead bars for support while travelling back home from work in the local train. The letters T and Y show a couple returning hand in hand; P is a person holding his hand on his hip, D is a person with a fat tummy, A is two friends meeting and I is a man holding a phone. The highlight of the logo is "O", a tired father leaving the train. "Like a word dropped off from the sentence" in Chitre's line. Here, like a letter dropped off from a word. It has been made a point to make this logo similar to the Devanagari script too.
