The Twins by Oliver Sacks

The objective of this project was to develop a luxury publication of one of the stories from the book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (1985) by Oliver Sacks. In this case, the story of The Twins was chosen and the entire editorial design of the book was carried out. All illustrations and typography of the titles were developed analogously using rapidographs of different calibers to later be scanned and corrected digitally.

The editorial design is based on the happiness that numbers brought to the twins; some peculiar characters considered abnormal due to their physical appearance and mental diversity. However, they had the ability to make calculations in record time because they saw the world through numbers. So, instead of communicating the strangeness of these characters, the design emphasizes the innocence, joy and wonderful abilities that these young people possessed through the vibrant colours of the book and the use of a simple typography and illustration style.
