For this project I was asked to redesign a cover for the classic story "War of the Worlds" by H.G Wells. I decided to go with a modern spin on a classic story. Since the book has been redone so many times in its lifetime I wanted to avoid doing a cover with an image and a title. I decided to take out the title on the cover to avoid being redundant. I think the 3 illustrations on the cover give just enough about the popular tale to know what the book is without telling too much of the story. I also decided to go with a more modern and popular style of illustration to make the book more eye catching to this generation. This story is known as the grandfather of alien novels and I feel with a title that distinguished and honored the color scheme should match that. I think the black and gold stick with the modern theme and well as gives it a serious and regal presence as a recognized classic.
