We had to conceptualise, storyboard, design and animate a 30-60 second mini title sequence, based on a blurb received. The blurb is of a selected book that is yet to be made into a feature. The task is to conceptualise the narrative and visual treatment off of the blurb alone. The blurb received is called “Son of Heaven”.

“Son of Heaven” is a story about a moment in time. The idea is that time is standing still, but so many things are happening in that specific moment. The story is about a young man who saw the world go to war with the Chinese, and how he would want his son to have his pocket watch before he ultimately meets his end. The title sequence shows him in the opening scene, reaching out for the pocket watch, and as the camera pans out it reveals the devastating image of the world coming to end with war. The camera ultimately pans out into space and back into the pocket watch again, to emphasize how the whole moment of ending was just another “moment in time”.
