A-Z children's book

Brief - How might we change the perspectives of aquariums and zoos in the context of children and families through educating them on what its really like for animals in captivity.

Aims - Encourage people to think about captivity
Create an engaging product that allows them to question zoos and aquariums

Insights - I initially based this project on SeaWorld and how they treat the animals, however through time I have realised that it is not just Seaworld which keeps animals in captivity it is also zoo and aquariums. From following PETA (People of the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for many years, I have realised that captivity is no way to treat animals who are supposed to be in the wild.

Final Idea - I decided to create an A-Z book calling it Aquariums to Zoos.  The book is in a child like form however the content included will be targeted towards adults. Using adult language which allows for a better understanding on what it is really like for animals in captivity.

I created different collages for each letter and chosen word of the alphabet. It allows for a form of medium that can be easily understood but it also is visually appealing. Collage appeals to the younger audience where as the writing appeals to the adults.

Each page has been perforated, because I would like them to be ripped out and used for the readers own accord as it engages the read more.
