Project 03 : Poster Design
For this BYU-I ART 230 project, I was given the scenario to create a poster for Bodoni MT Std on fonts.com. The idea is to design a poster to promote this font for professional designers to use. In the poster, the idea is to showcase the fonts in how they look to inform the viewer what they look like across the various styles. The specifications were that it had to have the name of the font, the designers name, samples of the available weights, price, where to buy the fonts, and a brief history and other information about it. The size also had to be 16x20.
I chose in the end to keep a very simple design due to some of the history on this font. Giambattisa Bodoni designed it in 1798 and is considered to the King of Typography. When I researched some of the printing that was done with this font in its early days, most of the lettering was black with some red added in for some of the bigger letters. I had several designs, but in the end, I chose the one that was more on the history on how it was originally used.
