Modelled using Rhino3D
Manufactured using polyurethane expanding
foam and solid ash.
The Eris Bar Stools explores how an object can
cause an emotional response in the user. The
expanding foam allows the object to create an
organic, stimulating form the entices people
to engage with the design.
The design maintains its functionality with
the soft foam providing comfort and a lumbar
support providing stability required for long
periods of sitting.
The strong geometry of the frame and the
seat surface aim to contrast with the organic
nature of the foam, and give the soft foam a
marble-like aesthetic.
The stool was turned upside down while the
foam was still under expansion, allowing the
material to create a unique, dripped texture.
This uncontrollable method allows each stool
to be unique.
