Final Tile Design
Bathroom Tile Design - Located in my design project of 'The Floating Etch' apartment renovation

Influenced by Helen Frankenthaler, who was infamous for her ‘soak-stain’ technique she applied to an un-primed canvas, with this technique she created floating like imagery. I took these notions forward into my tile design iterations with an aim to create a floating atmosphere to activate the senses of oneself. The droplet formation pattern I have created gives the viewer a sense of flow and lightness but also achieves a sense of staining on the surface of the tile, as if the water has left traces and stains over time.

My tile scheme spans across 1870 x 2400mm, being made up of 6 large scale landscape orientated rectangular tiles to fit the wall. A statement tile feature within a wet area of the bathroom.

I have opted for a black and white schema due to the large scale and elegant qualities black and white often exude, incorporating a white grout within the scheme to aid the imagery to flow seamlessly. Varying away from Helen Frankenthaler's traditional colour palette to create my own style and techniques.
Concepts: Tile pattern itterations
After I had chosen I tile pattern I worked in the wet lab to create different iterations. Changing depth and surface treatment through out the process.
