Behance Cover
Activity One
Task One: Yearbook Cover Ideas
- We got this idea from Leonidas’ name “Leo”.
- We can make the mane red to resemble the Spartan Cape.
- A lion reminds of our schools Athletic Teams and how they play.
- We wanted to put meaning into the cover.
- The cover has a nice sense of balance. The lighter colour is in contrast with the darker one makes it pleasing to the eyes.
- The picture is well juxtaposed with the tiger relative to its stripes.
- I like how the cover somehow tells a story and is meaningful given enough thought.
- It might not be a yearbook cover but if we can manage to do this in our yearbook, it’d be pretty good.
- And it looks cool.
- Same reason as to why we chose #2.
- It is simple and complex at the same time
- It is very minimalistic in terms of its colour palette.
- Should be relatively easy to do.
- It’s symbolistic.
Task Two: Yearbook Table of Contents Ideas
- It's Simplistic yet stylish.
- We can use it to replace the V sign of the shield.
- It could look better given the right colour combination.
- It makes it look interesting with it's composition.
- The page is not too crowded, but it gives enough information about the contents of the book.
- It's easy to read and well organized.
- I think it will look better if the space we're filled.
- It's easy to read just like Table of Contents #1.
- The way the pictures we're made makes it look a lot better.
- How they we're focusing for the pictures and not the fonts was smart.
Task Three: Fonts
Task Four: Color Palette Idea
Task Five: Design Styles
Activity Two
Yearbook Cover Design
Yearbook Sketches
The teachers divided everyone into groups of 4 to make the the 2019 yearbook. So, we made 3 sketches to pick from for our yearbook cover.
Main Sketch (Vincent Reyes, Jett Marcelo, Nico de Guzman, Ronn Malong)
After, picking our sketch, we added more detail and refined it like adding the different stages of life.
Version One
Jett Marcelo used both Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint Pro to make this cover. For his first step he just sketched out what we had on paper. After that he used a mirror tool in the middle of the spartan helmet so it looks the same on the other side. After we finished sketching we started using the lasso and pen tool to make better outlines and filled them in with colour. Jett also used a "G Pen" tool in Clip Studio Paint to make smooth and sharp lines. After that he added finishing touches like highlights using the "G Pen," and he also used a "Gradient" tool so that it looks bright at the top and the bottom dark.
For this Jett used one the mockup templates and he placed on our Yearbook cover on top using the "Free Transform" tool.
Version Two
We used Adobe Photoshop to create the cover art by using the lasso tool for the line art and silhouettes; brush tool and gradient tool for the colours, by adding multiple layers and painting on top of the basic colours, we managed to achieve the look that we wanted. Once we've finished the art, we then proceeded to pick the suitable font among the ones that we picked beforehand and use it . After some finishing touches, we used the mock-up template provided by the teachers to create a sample of what our yearbook cover would look like if printed. We used the warp tool to fit into the perspective of the books.
Table of Contents (My Version)
For my Table of Contents, I used Adobe InDesign to create this page. I used the "Rectangle & Polygon Tool" this to create most of the details. I added some pictures of things you can experience in school.
Activity Three
Colour Theory Assignment
The teachers gave us the link to answer each questions, after that we had to open the worksheet on Adobe Illustrator we had to write our answers there. After, we finished it we had to upload the file to google drive.
Activity Four
Colour Palette Assignment
I opened the photo I picked, and used the eyedropper tool to get the CMYK colors. I started from the sky, and finished with the darkest tree.
Activity Five
Yearbook Page (Signature Page)
I used photos online, but made the two people and the road. I re-arranged the extra hats, and changed there colors. When, I finished I made two more to pick from and ended up with three.
Activity Six
Photo Retouching Technique (Before)
Photo Retouching Technique (After)
For the first picture, I used the lasso tool to draw the outline of the eyes, and I added a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. In the options I changed it to colorize, as soon as I did that the eye color changed to green I lowered the saturation to make it look more natural, and changed the blend mode to color to show the details of the eye. I selected the layer mask, after that I took the brush tool to fix the edges of the eye.
