It means 'light' in hawaiian language. This is a desk I created for my personal use. I needed a desk for studying. I went for a very minimalistic look and light weight. The desktop is only 18mm thick and the boards I used to glue it were 90mm wide. This dimentions of material were very likely for the wood to warp. Thats why I have put 7 dowels inside the desktop. They are hidden inside and go perpendicularly to the wood grain. Thanks to using this method, the surface is staying flat, and the dowels are completely invisible.
