Due to the different city constructions and living habits, there is little difference between Chinese people and European people purchasing vegetables and fruits. In Shanghai, there is a specific market for vegetabel and fresh food called 菜市场 (Cai Shichang). In 2018’s summer, I unexpectedly discovered one which was builded during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. The market was so crowned, people also considered it was a place to connect social relationships, in which I was very interested in the vivid colors of foods and the alive environment occurred there.
