I remember when I first heard of the Black Key. And how it was immediately caught by the raw guitar rifts and this heavy sounding southern blues vibe. I thought about how crazy the lyrics related to me as each song marked a time in my life. Dealing with that hard break-up or over coming all the feelings that come from life - The Black Keys had a song for it. As I dug deeper into the discography, I just became more and more of a fan.

And it wasn't until I ACTUALLY ran into Patrick Carney(the drummer) while grabbing a coffee, that I realized how awesome these dudes are. Patrick was so cool when I started talking to him about the music and how much of a fan boy I am.

This started the idea for an illustration. I figured I could do something cool that I felt represent the band and all of its raw soulful noise. This piece took about 17hrs in Adobe Illustrator and a few hours in Photoshop, just adding in a little texture/highlights. Al I have to say is - I love the Black Keys and consider myself a big fan which lends itself to some fanart!!!
