Un bagno fatiscente in perfetto stile art nouveau in cui è rimasto solo un vecchio lavandino.
Lo specchio nella vacuità dell’epoca contemporanea.
Asciugamani in cemento e oggetti per la cura personale (scolpiti e sporcati), in ogni dettaglio raccontano di un presente in cui la società ha smarrito il valore del gesto del vivere.
Johnny Hermann ferma l’esatto momento in cui la vanità diventa fine a se stessa e il concetto di selfie, da innocuo gioco, si trasforma in una smodata e ingiustificata percezione del sé.
Oggi, come nel 1500 dell’Orlando Furioso, gli uomini continuano a nascondersi dietro a desideri
vani e il like, attraverso i social media, è la nuova forma dell'adulazione.
La vanità è ciò su cui ci concentriamo per migliorare la nostra immagine esteriore, ma tralasciando il nostro io interiore.
L’apparire è prima di tutto.
Raggiungiamo il consenso fittizio e vano dagli altri e arriviamo al punto di vantarci di meriti inesistenti, adulando noi stessi e nutrendoci dell'adulazione altrui.
Il like per arrivare all'adulazione di noi stessi.
Che sia un ossimoro anche l’adulazione del sé?
