objective
Extinction is a natural process, but conservationists believe it's happening up to 10,000 times faster than normal because of human actions. By destroying habitats, illegally killing animals, and polluting the oceans, humanity threatens the balance of our world and the future of these magnificent creatures. "Repainting Wildlife" is a concept for helping students understand that as species and habitats are being erased, there is an opportunity for humans to make a difference. The Repainting Wildlife Endangered Species Kit will educate students on the human-caused factors for endangerment and extinction, and provide the tools for them to spread awareness and take action.

process
The kit includes a booklet, posters, Zoo journal, Adopt-an-Animal sheet, Save-a-Gorilla postcard and stickers; all held together in a folder. The "Repainting Wildlife" concept was created by using Photoshop brushes to erase photographs of endangered species or bring them back to life. Print materials were created in InDesign and the booklet and journal were hand-bound by myself using needle and thread to create a more authentic look. The folder was hand-crafted from a large sheet of kraft paper. The paper was made from recycled materials and the printed pieces are meant to spread awareness and be used and re-used.

the goals
1:  To educate students on the human-caused factors of endangered species and why these species are important to our Earth’s ecosystem.
2:  To create empathy by emphasizing that once a species is extinct, it is gone forever.
3:  To inspire students to spread awareness about endangered species and to live a more sustainable life.
