Character Design: Miserable Slum Monk

Character Design:
Miserable Slum Monk
The first step I made was doing research. I found an interesting article about female monks in Thailand fighting for the right to be recognized. I was amazed by it and really wanted to use that in my story.
I made two moodboards first to give me a good idea of the three words I was given.

My character moved a poor area in her city to the Temple and then to the slums. This moodboard is important to show the difference between lifestyles.

To create an appealing look I started searching for cultures that work really well with the Thai Buddhist gown. I ended up adding Indian sari's, traditional African tribal looks and Thai dancers to my moodboard.
The monks are called Amani, because Amani is the Swahilian word for peace.
These are the ten silhouettes I made. She has a stick to fight with if absolutely necessary, she has a bowl of water or an apple she is offering to a civilian or she is just standing there in an awkward pose.
The difference between just moving to the slums to help people and living there after quite some time.
Front, side and back view.
Adding the wireframe.
Adding the simple shading lines.
Softer shading.
Adding the wounds and dirt to her.
And lastly, adding the colors.
