During my stint at , I brainstormed story ideas with the team and was responsible for the Short Talk department, the humorous and offbeat opening to the publication. I pitched and assigned stories to writers, and directed reporters as they covered a range of topics, such as the top five summer drinks, roadkill recipes and Missouri's lack of an open container law. I fact-checked articles and worked closely with writers while micro and macro editing anchor stories, sidebars and feature stories.
