The finished Pacific Northwest Native American Graphic stickers look tied together. I love the colors I added and the symbolism.
The Totem pole took the longest of everything. It was a lot more shapes and faces. I even considered having the middle say "NATIVE".
Once i finished my Orca, I reused a lot of my shapes with the SeaHawk in different ways. I wanted it to have a feather theme instead of water. Positioning the shapes this way made more of a feather than a fin feel.
My second attempt at the Orca. I was still not seeing how things tied together. I did outlines and tried filling them in. I decided it should have color.
Another example of shapes i looked at that are traditional in the Pacific Northwest Native designs.
My first attempt at an orca. I was not happy with how things were tied together with just random shape placement. It needed more to make it all fit nicely.
This is an example of Native Design i found online. Notice how they use certain shapes repetitively at different sizes and weights. This is common in their traditional native art.
To get to where I was at, It took a long time. I sketched images of Pacific Northwest Native American Art carves to get a feel for what I really wanted. This helped me decide on what animals to use.
