Design Rationale:
The challenge of this project was to use an existing type face that was created by Jesse Esteves and to compose a visually appealing poster to display information regarding a lecture series. One of the goals was to create an original composition that strayed from the simple memo layout. The target audience would be young professionals who want to further their future in design.  As such the poster created by Jesse Esteves is reminiscent of “governmental paperwork” a sort of “CIA” vibe if you would. The white rectangles in the corners of the poster are designed to look like the print holes in government documents. The cool muted blue background was designed to be soft on the eye behind many sharp angles, especially in the “Chopped” typeface designed by Jesse Esteves.
In the selected crops of the poster we can see that there are varying points of type the range in importance of information. The body copy is smaller than the date of the lecture which in turn is smaller than the name of the speaker. The same could be aid for the body copy displaying the date and location of the event.
