This project, a series of 12 oil painting portraits was completed originally in 1994. In 2010 an additional portrait was added to extend the series to 13 portraits, as part of an Artist Trust residency grant at Centrum in Port Townsend, WA. Here you see four of the thirteen oil paintings of African American Pioneers from the Pacific Northwest that are depicted in the series. The paintings are presented in lightweight gold platted beveled frames.
