The task was to research connections & construction principles and with that knowledge we had to design a product which implements them.

The Inspiration

I was inspired by this ceiling hanger from Knauf, which is used to lower a ceiling. This hanger has the very simple principle of using spring-steel to cause friction. The hanger can no more be moved because it is jammed up. By pushing the metal spring you can release it and move it up and down without any effort. Each of these hangers can hold up to 25kg.

I am very happy with the result and did not expect it myself to work that well. With this shelf you never ever have to struggle with too little shelf space or clearing the shelf before rearranging it.
This system has still way more to offer, which I will figure out and keep on working!
