Based in Oslo, Norway, Thomas Simonsen Balmbra is working as a stop-motion animation artist. He creates his own figures and characters, which he then animates the old fashioned way. He is heavily influenced and inspired by Eastern European stop motion, such as Jan Švankmajer and Jiří Barta among others. Thomas is passionate about his craft, and through this series of photos I've tried to convey both his passion, and to show some the strange worlds and characters he creates. This project was an assignment as part of my bachelor in photojournalism at Oslo Metropolitan University.
