HORIZON
Wallclock-Project | Akademie für Gestaltung - Münster
My intention for this project was to take away the daily pressure a clock and time puts on us, beside being an orientation for our daily business. Minutes and seconds are changing and moving in a rapid speed.

Emphasising and showing the real time we have each day can help us to decelerate us. One way to do so is to use a different kind of clockwork. I got one where the hourhand only makes one full rotation per day around the center, like the earth does it around its own center.
Furthermore I wanted to show the amount of daylight we have each day. The differences between spring, summer, winter and autumn makes it necessary to adjust the nighttime.

Visualisation
The daylight differences (below shown for germany) between the seasons (spring/autumn, summer, winter) are huge. This is hard to realise until you see it in a pie chart like visualisation.
Walnut | Acrylglas | Brass | blue Fabric
The two smokeglas pieces can be moved easily by hand to set it to the right sunrise and sunset time.
Translation of the product cards:

"HORIZON teaches you to perceive time and moment more consciously. Like the earth, the hand of this watch makes only one rotation per day and at the same time shows you sunrise and sunset.

Give up minutes and seconds and decelerate your Life."
