Plastic Oceans
Poster Series

Objective By the end of this brief you should have demonstrated a clear understanding of poster design with particular respect to how analogue forms might also work in a digital medium. Your designs should demonstrate a New Zealand and bi-cultural approach to the topic and its content. It should also reference specific local and South Pacific issues relating to the Plastic Oceans provocation.

The work I created a poster series with New Zealand fish. The idea is the more people use/drink from plastic bottles, the more excess we use the more fish we kill. The approach for this design was intended to be childlike illustrations with a very dark meaning.
The Highlight Trout
This poster was a spinoff from other pieces of work collated together. The trout bottles and plastic bags are from the series poster. The water it from the label and the background is the image trace used in the series.

I used a statistic type to give a modern ‘forceful’ look. The suffocation of the plastic fish is supposed to look grim and be eye-catching.

This poster was created because I still had more ideas after finishing my series and I believe this is the start of pushing it further.  This design looks cohesive and strong. I believe it would be effective if used.
