Picture of the Week - Week 33
In one week I spent more than four hours photographing Bruce Munro's "Light" at Longwood Gardens. The forest portion of the installation had neither the aural qualities of the field installation nor the reflections of the pond installation. Still, in each group of visitors that came over the ridge as I stood at my tripod there was at least one person that compared the Munro's masterful display to "The Wizard of Oz". You would be hard placed to find direct similarities but the feel of magic and magical things was accommodated by the glowing fiber optically lit globes and the space created by the forest canopy. Dusk is the perfect time to try to capture the ambiance.
