Tash Sultana Portrait

One of the most unique and talented artists I have come across in the last couple of years. I first heard her on Triple J and was hooked. She was so different from most of the music I was hearing at the time, and her enjoyment and creativity is contagious. She’s a master of the loop pedal and absolutely shreds on the guitar, you can tell I’m a big fan. Tash is currently touring and this image from her tour poster – as soon as I saw it I knew I had to draw it.

I underestimated how gruelling this black background would be, the whole thing took 62 hours - by far the longest time I've ever spent on a single drawing. 56x72cm on Stillman & Birn Zeta series paper, crosshatched using black Zig Millennium fine point markers.
