GOING THROUGH URDLA ARCHIVES
I did a two months internship at Urdla, an art gallery and workshop were all ancestral printing techniques are applied to art. I had to print a collection of old wood and metal engravings used in book-printing from approximately 1850 to 1970. The numerous graphic elements and styles make this collection a rare vision into the past. I made this small edition as a trace of this history through the mackles (tests) produced as I printed the engravings. There are about 200 pages of selected overlays, repetitions, failures and style encounters that retrace my many days of cataloging and many years of printing history.
