12KM - Movie Trailer Titles Storyboard

12 Kilometers is a horror film directed by Mike Pecci. It was recently accepted into the Boston International Film Festival, which requires a theatrical trailer for the film. Mike cut a trailer, but it needed to be spiced up with some design. Specifically, the opening title card and end card need to be designed, and they needed some kind of transition from graphics to footage and back. The film is a throwback to 1980’s horror movies like The Thing. It’s dark, creepy, and has an ominous tone throughout and the design was meant to reflect that. 12KM was shot 2K with anamorphic lenses and so the boards are designed 2048×768 format. I used SEM extreme macro photography of cholera, cells, and nerves to compose a microscopic horror theme, but also to reinforce the idea of the cave environment which sets boundaries for the characters.
