Taskly: Task Model, IA and Paper Prototype

Taskly (renamed Organizze in the branding stage) is a project for a User Experience Design course at Career Foundry in Berlin. This was a 6 month online professional training course based on one to one mentoring with a UX designer currently working in the sector. Taskly is a project management app for non-profits and creative SMEs.

Task Model and Information Architecture

The task model for Taskly was determined on the basis of interviews with three staff members currently working for creative nonprofits or public sector organizations. This was intended to help visualize the kinds of choices and tasks they would be working on. Following the interviews, a card sort was done with each of the staff members to get a sense of how they would expect a project management app to be organized.
Paper Prototype Testing

Once the task model and information architecture had been planned out, I designed a prototype in Illustrator that met a few small bits of functionality, namely adding a task and viewing project with lists of tasks in three different views. Various needs that were discussed in interviews were included: a burn down chart to show progress, notifications when others working on the project had completed a task and a 'moodboard' type view for brainstorming. The illustration below shows some before and after screens following testing with a paper prototype. You can click on the image to zoom in.
Videos of Paper Prototypes

The following videos illustrate how the paper prototype was intended to function during testing. User flows for adding and task and for viewing a project in each of the three views (ie, task list, Gantt chart and moodboard) are shown.
