Lemur is a platform that aims to provide a solution as a bridge between members of the community, promoting urban art and tolerance, as an intermediary between people who wants to express themselves artistically in the public space and the wall owners.

They would be able to meet and share content of interest. Generating an easy access to graffiti, stencil and street-art practices. And workshops as well, for those who are interested to learn or perfecting the technique. Thus a support is given to the members of the community to appropriate in a responsible way the space where they live, either through painting or donating a place.

Survey

The survey showed multiplicity of perspectives, we chose the random method, which means that we received the opinion of 100 people randomly to obtain a representative sample of population. It was conducted through google forms.

Mapping the city

Thanks to the collaboration and support of JES stadslabo, we got useful information of this zone. We exposed “The Mural Project”, as it was called at the beginning of the research. We were looking for spaces in the community to intervene them. By sharing these ideals on the integration, they gave us the map of area in which they are currently working with the budget given by the State. We explored the space to identify potential spots. We walked and took pictures of the environment.

Workshops

We organized the first graffiti workshop of two days, both sessions were meant to enlarge our analysis, focused on children between 11 and 17 years old who live in the area.

We chose this wall for its wide dimension, visibility and for the bad condition. It is an old abandoned factory located near the canal in the Rue du Bateau, in the district of Molenbeek, Brussels.
