The purpose of this project is to bring to light the condition of the Great Barrier Reef which is home to over 1500 species of fish, around 20 types of reptiles including sea turtles and giant clams over 120 years old. Also because of its natural beauty, the Great Barrier Reef has become one of the worlds most sought after tourist destinations.
However, Climate change has resulted in massive bleaching events.
What is Coral Bleaching?
Coral Bleaching is when corals are stressed by changes in conditions such as temperature, light, or nutrients, they expel the symbiotic algae living in their tissues, causing them to turn completely white.
Unless we do something about it, the Great Barrier Reef will no longer be one of the seven natural wonders.
