Final Major Project - Alexander Lloyd -Character design

Simple drawings done during production in order to practise perspective using extremes
an impromptu sketch drawn on a whim of a character from a series I enjoyed, although it is very shoddy it gave me some insight on the importance of good facial structure and the need to approach it carefully
Character design, a character I had made and decided to re-draw was trying to use it to practise anatomy and positioning, I managed to get good practise on things I struggle with such as hands and feet, however I feel that the body is a bit too long and the legs a little too short.
connected to the prior image, this is a selection of equipment, this was for practise of perspective and ability to draw non-organic objects such as rigid things like the metal of the sword, along with a more adaptable material like the cloth from the cloak.
whilst during production, I came across an art book from a game I had recently bought. I liked the designs of the characters so i decided to attempt to draw them, I like how I did with the body and its proportions, however the facial structure needs work as it looks rigid and not very life-like.
another drawing brought on by the inspiration of a freshly bought game, I chose this character because I loved the design of her hair and dress, and she was a great match by being a polar opposite of the prior character. However due to my lack of focus i feel failed to notice till after I drew it, the the face did not look quite right, from this I learned not only that I needed to work on face shapes and expressions, but also to be careful and that a clean face structure is important.
This is some examples of the character designs I drew for my project, among the couple of designs i went for I tried to make use of as many different facial expressions as I could, I also tried to experiment with poses, along with simple things like eyes and faces.
another of the designs I made, this one I used a character from a TV series as reference and i tried to work with more facial expressions, although I feel they need work I was very happy with how the nose and mouth came out, I then tried to draw the same person at a side angle, and it did not work out too well. Again the nose looked great but the rest of the face did not match it too well, however in both drawing I really like how I drew the hair.
This was another impromptu drawing brought on by another artist displaying an easy way to draw facial expressions using semi-circles and Triangles. I like how this came out so I'm proud of it.
More drawings of expressions, I originally tried to go for a sad expression, yet as it came together it looked more bored or tired than it did sad, however I did enjoy drawing the character's expression so I kept it. I also drew another different expression which was supposed to be a sort of pout, however the I feel the eyes did not come out too well, otherwise I feel the rest of it is fine.
i was researching I came across an image with some hairstyle examples, of which I found this hairstyle. I loved the look of the hairstyle a lot so I wanted to try to draw it, and i'm very happy of how it came out, originally the image looked a little worse, however; I was able to get some feedback and tips from my peers and my tutor so I was able to make the image better. upon looking over it agains I decided that I wanted to push this image further and so I went over it using a graphics tablet and photoshop.
These show my progress through photoshop, I am not very experience with a graphics tablet, so there are a lot of hairy lines, but as it came together they became less noticeable, I also cleaned up the worst of the messy lines.
this is further progress, as I drew the main parts of the facial expressions: the eyes mouth and nose.
once I moved over to the hair, the whole image started to come together, and looked better together.
however there was ways I could improve, and doing so I added shading for the body along with the hair.
this is the example of my shading of the hair, I enjoyed how it came out, I then tried to fix up some of the lines.
This was the final result of my line-art I did of the character I created, there is a great deal where I can improve however I enjoy how it looks.
this was drawn much earlier, a bit after the first impromptu drawing, it was my experiments with different dynamic poses and I enjoyed drawing them, my favourites were the one to the far left and the one in the center to the right.
