Competition: Closed Contest - honorable mention
Year: 2004

The Hiriya waste dump is situated just east of Tel-Aviv in the Ayalon river valley. An international design competition was organized for the rehabilitation of this ‘mountain’ which has grown to tremendous proportions. In Vista’s proposal the mountain is transferred into a regional landmark and a central attraction for Ayalon Park. On the top of the mountain a series of terraces are constructed, providing stunning sunrise and sunset views. To guarantee the stability of the slope, wide berms of construction waste will be placed at the foot of the mountain and will be planted with Marquis vegetation. The steeper slopes will be supported by a steel corset. All rainwater will be collected in the hart of the top of the mountain, allowing this area to change into an oasis with luscious theme gardens and cultural activities. In the surrounding valley a green grid of alleys and irrigation systems is made. The fields are used for growing a wide variety of produce like bustans, citrus and olives.
