In my previous project of my course I had the opportunity of picking the brief and as I was quite inspired by Jonathan Barnbrook and his work for Adbusters I decided to create a few double spreads and cover for a Adbusters issue.
For the first concept I focused on Assad's actions the president of Syria. And how he's still using chemical weapons against its own citizens. In this concept I compared to him to Donkey Kong and how he is dropping barrel bombs on Mario who's caring the Syrian flag representing Syrian citizens.
For this double spread I focused on Donald Trump and how he uses Twitter. The message behind this article is how he resembles a trickster and uses twitter as a form to distract people with his "tweets" to hide is actions in the real world. With the anagram I also express how people can attain influential power too easily and quickly in today's society which can be quite dangerous.
One of the issues which I felt more attached to, the air pollution problem we can't escape. However, what started as a joke has become a huge business. Vitality air sells fresh air to citizens from parts of the world were the air isn't as fresh and pure due to the air pollution and this is quite negative to our world as now businesses make money from air pollution they don't want to even help stop it. Which means it's just going to get worse and worse.
For this concept I focused on how society is labelled and the amount of stereotypes in our world but I mainly focused on terrorist stereotypes. The message is that a beard for something can make you look like a terrorist, but why? what makes you a terrorist? Anyone can be a terrorist, including the most innocent celebrities to the most typical dangerous men.
I adapted the previous concept and created an animation based on it.
The last issue I covered for my project was Brexit, since I'm a British citizen the way I picture Theresa May and her actions is that she is very unstable and probably borderline going crazy due to the amount of pressure that fell upon her however she has done a great choice of calling a general election. Only problem now is that who is going to fill in the role then?
