HORROR VACUI
The notion of “The Town” was about falling below the surface of a crowded everyday life – pictured by the many interleaved perspectives and architectural styles – and drowning in fear of the void (lat. horror vacui).
In “The Face” the contrast between crowded everyday life and void is pictured in lots of homespun philosophies on the one hand and empty eyes on the other hand. The face itself is not intact, it does not know how, despite all this life advice.
“The Newspaper” combines pointless life advice from number two with number one’s layout. Homespun philosophies fail to build up a construct against the fear of the void.
